All of You

Welcome to the All of You Podcast with Dave and Shiv Martinell! A few years and one too many fights ago, our relationship led us on personal journeys toward self awareness, healing, and personal growth. We started to see that the more we healed, the better we started showing up not just in our relationship, but in the workplace, in our friendships, with our daughters, and most importantly for ourselves. Our hope is that in sharing our own raw and vulnerable truths, others will be inspired, feel seen, and will want to pursue growth and healing in their own lives. We’re driven by the belief that as each person heals, the collective heals and that’s how we make this world a more beautiful and loving place. In this first episode of our two-part series on money, Shiv shares how her old money beliefs were shaped by fear, scarcity, and survival—and how shifting those beliefs changed everything. We unpack the idea that couples aren’t actually fighting about money, but about the deeper stories and wounds attached to it. We also explore how someone's money behaviors—like overspending, withholding, or controlling—can create attraction issues, trigger power dynamics, and erode safety in a relationship. If you’ve ever felt misunderstood or disconnected when it comes to finances with your partner, this one’s for you.

Ever said yes when you wanted to scream no? Same. In this episode, we dive into the messy world of people pleasing — where it comes from, how it shows up in sneaky ways (even in marriages and friendships), and why trying to keep everyone happy might actually be robbing you of your real self.
We dig into things like:👉 Why is it so hard to disappoint people?👉 Can you be fully yourself and a people pleaser?👉 Does it actually hurt connection more than it helps?
You'll walk away feeling seen, maybe called out (in the best way), and reminded that it’s okay to disappoint others — and that the people who love you can handle it.
This one's for the over-functioners, the “I just want everyone to be okay” crew, and anyone learning to take their dang power back.

In this episode, we’re talking about one of the most underrated relationship skills: feeling your feelings before they explode into a fight.
Shiv shares a real-life moment where she caught herself feeling irritated and chose to pause and go to bed — instead of picking a fight with Dave. That one small choice shifted everything.
We talk about:
How to recognize when you’re emotionally charged
The power of becoming the watcher of your thoughts
Why naming your feelings is one of the most disarming tools in conflict
How learning to feel can change the energy of your entire relationship
If you’ve ever found yourself in a fight that started over something small but spiraled quickly… this one’s for you.

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering, “Why hasn’t love happened for me yet?”—this episode is for you.
Dave flips the script and interviews me about my experience being single until 32. I open up about the internal narratives I wrestled with, the societal pressure I felt, and the fears that made me question if real love was still possible for me.
We talk about: • The sneaky ways our beliefs block us from love • What I wish I did differently • Why healing before dating matters • How to actually put yourself out there without losing yourself
Whether you're in your 30s, 40s, or simply feeling behind in love, this episode is here to remind you: your story isn’t late—it’s right on time. And yes, love is still possible. In fact, it might just be better than you imagined.

In this deeply personal episode, Dave opens up about something 50% of people face but rarely feel safe enough to unpack out loud: rebuilding your life after divorce. Dave gets raw and real as he shares what life looked like nearly six years ago, from the state of his mental health to what he wishes he could tell his past self during that painful season.
We explore:
What he regrets (and doesn’t) from those early months
How he knew when he was ready to date again
What helped him heal and find clarity
How he supported his kids through the transition
And the intentional things he now does in our relationship to keep us strong
Whether you’re navigating divorce yourself, supporting someone who is, or just curious about what it really takes to rebuild and love again, this episode is full of insight, tenderness, and hope.

Ep.59 The art of repair

Monday Jun 09, 2025

Monday Jun 09, 2025

Relationships aren’t defined by how well we avoid conflict—but by how we come back together after it. In this episode, we dive into the art of repair—what it really means to repair after disconnection, conflict, or misunderstanding. We talk about why repair is so essential for trust and intimacy, why so many of us never learned how to do it, and the common mistakes people make when trying to make things right. We also share tools, real-life examples, and reflective questions to help you navigate the messy, vulnerable, and beautiful process of repair—whether it’s with a partner, friend, child, or even yourself.
If you’ve ever wondered how to reconnect after a rupture, this one’s for you.

In this honest and vulnerable episode, we’re getting real about something that affects every relationship: expressing your needs without slipping into blame or criticism. We even rated each other (yep!)—Shiv gave Dave a score on how well he expresses his needs, and we unpack what makes this so challenging for both of us. Spoiler: the hardest part isn’t always the communication…it’s figuring out what you actually need in the first place. When we can’t express our needs, they go unmet—and that quiet disconnection builds resentment, shuts down intimacy, and keeps us from showing up as the partners we truly want to be.
We also dive into why how we ask matters just as much as what we ask for—because the energy behind our words can make it easier or harder for our partner to hear us without taking it personally. And what’s fascinating is that our bodies often give us subtle cues when our needs aren’t being met; learning to check in with ourselves, to notice that tightening in the chest or that knot in the stomach, takes practice—and many of us were never taught to do it consciously. In this episode, we share the tools and awareness we’ve developed to lean into those body cues, get clear on our needs, and speak them with honesty and compassion—so we can finally break the cycle of unmet expectations and create deeper connection.

In this episode, we talk about a tender kind of grief that often goes unspoken — the grief of a life that didn’t happen. The future you imagined, the timeline you were hoping for, the version of your story that never came to be.
Whether it’s a relationship that ended, a vision for your future that will never come to be, or a season that didn’t unfold the way you thought it would, this kind of loss is real — even if it’s invisible. And yet, so often, it’s not validated by the world around us.
We explore what it means to hold space for that grief. To acknowledge the ache of things like not becoming a parent, your retirement plan ending with your relationship ending, or navigating the lonely stretch between what you hoped for and where you are now.
Grief isn’t just about losing what you had — it’s also about mourning what you didn’t. And in naming it, we begin to honor it. We begin to heal.
If you’ve ever felt a quiet sadness about the path you didn’t take, or the version of your life you thought you’d be living by now, this conversation is for you.
